The Bihar Government formally transferred 446 acres of land to the proposed Nalanda University in the state. Nalanda district Magistrate handed over the mutation papers of the land to the Nalanda University Vice Chancellor Gopa Sabharwal. 
With this the work for developing university infrastructure will get underway. The estimated cost of establishment has been put at Rs 1,005crore. The Planning Commission has already allocated Rs 50 crore as seed capital in the form of special grant of the commencement of the activities. 
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured all help from the State Government in the development of the University which will strive for the revival of the ancient glory of Nalanda as the international seat of learning.
